Bookkeeper

Our client is seeking a part-time Bookkeeper to provide bookkeeping and payroll services for a mixed portfolio of local and international clients. This role requires a commitment of 25 hours per week. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing various tasks related to bookkeeping and payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with the necessary standards. This position offers the opportunity to work with diverse clients and assist them in their financial journeys. The ideal candidate will need to demonstrate strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise tasks effectively, and possess excellent communication skills to interact with clients. They will be expected to work autonomously, managing their own client base while ensuring deadlines are consistently met. Job Duties:

  • Bookkeep for clients using Xero and QuickBooks Online.
  • Run client payroll with monthly CER (Combined Employer Returns) submissions.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly GST returns from client information.
  • Complete take-on procedures, including engagement letters and setup of Xero.
  • Create and maintain client records in the database and practice management system.
  • Manage own client base and prioritise workload to meet deadlines.
  • Communicate with clients to resolve queries promptly and ensure transactions are supported by relevant evidence.
  • Clear and file all emails and post daily.
  • Perform other job-related duties as necessary or as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • CGI/STEP Certificate or equivalent completed, or partway through ICAEW/ACCA Accountancy Qualification (with exam success to date), or Basic Level Qualification relevant to the function.
  • Proficiency in Xero and QuickBooks Online.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
