Temporary Retail Shop Assistant

Our client is seeking a dedicated temporary Retail Shop Assistant to provide exceptional customer service in their retail environment until 6 December, transitioning to part-time Saturday cover thereafter until May 2026. Our client has been the leader in the direct-to-consumer nutritional supplements market, offering high-quality vitamins and supplements along with a diverse range of products in animal health and skincare. They pride themselves on their friendly and informal atmosphere, promoting innovation and success to support customers in their journey towards a long and healthy life. The role of the Shop Assistant involves not only serving customers but also supporting the retail team and maintaining an inviting shop environment. The successful candidate will work 7.5 hours each Saturday, ensuring that customers receive the best possible experience.

Job Duties:

• Assist customers with product purchasing.
• Ensure shelves are fully stocked and appropriately displayed.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the shop.
• If covering a supervisor's duties, oversee the till float.
• Put away delivered stock and maintain a clean shop environment, including shelves and floors.
• Report any issues or pricing errors to the relevant person.
• Manage end-of-day cashing up, including banking and securely closing the shop.

• Confident and articulate in communication.
• Empathetic and understanding towards customer needs.
• Friendly and approachable demeanour.
• Sales-driven and enthusiastic, without being pushy.
• A team player who is also able to work independently.
• Capable of understanding and operating the till, managing various payment methods, refunds, and discounts.
• Previous retail experience is desirable, along with an interest in health and nutrition.
