Our client is seeking a Finance Officer to support the Finance Manager in preparing financial information for the business operations in Guernsey. This permanent role is integral to the finance team and provides valuable exposure across multiple jurisdictions. The position involves supporting internal accounting processes, preparing client billing and managing debtors, assisting with monthly management accounts, processing supplier payments, and contributing to various ad hoc finance projects.
Job Duties:
- Perform daily bookkeeping and transaction processing across multiple entities
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate accounting records, focusing on bank statements, agreements, invoices, contracts, resolutions, and supporting documentation
- Reconcile ledger items to supporting documents, ensuring schedules and workings are properly maintained
- Maintain fixed asset registers, debtors’ ledgers, accruals, and prepayment schedules
- Assist in the timely and accurate preparation of annual financial statements, monthly management accounts, and ad-hoc reports in line with IFRS / UK GAAP
- Compile information for inclusion in the budget process
- Undertake double-entry bookkeeping, including accrual accounting
- Carry out general administrative tasks
- Complete any other duties as may be required in accordance with the role and the evolving nature of the function
- Display and adhere to the organisation’s core values in all aspects of your role
Job Requirements:
- Holds or is working towards an Accountancy Qualification (e.g., ACCA)
- Proven track record of working in an accounts department
- Experience of successfully working within a team
- High level of motivation
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication, interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills
- Ability to foster collaboration and teamwork
- Pro-active and responsible attitude with the ability to work within strict financial guidelines
