Finance Officer

Our client is seeking a Finance Officer to join their Operations team within a dynamic Trust Company environment. This role will involve close collaboration with the Directors and the Client Services and Operations Teams to ensure the efficient and timely delivery of all financial, client service, and operational functions. The Finance Officer will undertake a variety of tasks including daily reconciliation of bank accounts, processing accounts payable and receivable transactions, and preparing month-end financial reports. Additionally, the officer will assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts while maintaining and updating accounting systems and records. The position is primarily office-based in Jersey, offering opportunities for remote work in line with company policy and business requirements. The Finance Officer will actively engage in adhering to legislation and compliance regulations, ensuring that all company procedures are followed meticulously. This is a full-time role, with standard working hours and occasional flexibility to meet project deadlines.

Job Duties:

  • Processing the daily reconciliation of company bank accounts to internal ledgers
  • Processing accounts payable and receivable transactions
  • Processing quarterly billing run and ad hoc invoices
  • Preparing monthly reconciliation of debtors, creditors, and disbursements
  • Preparing daily and weekly management information reports
  • Processing monthly inter-company recharges
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Assisting with the annual audit and in-house statutory accounts preparation
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Assisting with monitoring and commenting on performance versus budget
  • Maintaining and updating accounting systems and records
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline finance processes
  • Strengthening internal controls
  • Working with Client Services teams on invoicing and debt collection matters
  • Assisting with performance analysis for the business and Group
  • Undertaking relevant ad-hoc duties as required

Job Requirements:

  • Holding a relevant Level 4 or 5 qualification
  • Experience in internal finance or accounting roles, preferably within a financial services business
  • Proficient in the use of one or more core administration Trust Company Business operating platforms (PlainSail experience is a plus)
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • An enquiring and analytical mindset with problem-solving abilities
  • Integrity and discretion in handling sensitive company information
  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • A collaborative team player with a focus on accuracy and efficiency
