Sustainability & Governance Manager

Our client is seeking a Sustainability and Governance Manager to report to the Head of Finance, Risk and Governance. This role will be responsible for coordinating and advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives while ensuring compliance with evolving sustainability standards. The successful candidate will play a key part in driving the sustainability agenda and supporting governance frameworks across the business. This is a full-time position with a focus on engaging stakeholders, monitoring sustainability initiatives, and improving internal controls. The role will involve active participation in post-2026 sustainability planning and the development of strategies that align with the company's Sustainability Mission 2024-2026. You will be instrumental in building out sustainability reporting structures and ensuring active communication with suppliers regarding compliance and governance practices.

Job Duties:

  • Propose and develop stakeholder engagement strategies regarding sustainability.
  • Stay informed on forthcoming ESG reporting standards and requirements.
  • Drive the Sustainability Mission 2024-2026 forward.
  • Assist with the Environmental Scope 3 plan, including:
  • Assessing supplier green energy usage.
  • Establishing targets for emission reduction with proposed timelines.
  • Communicating progress formats and timelines with suppliers.
  • Developing a review and follow-up programme.
  • Participate actively in planning for the company’s Sustainability Mission post-2026.
  • Monitor and plan sustainability in relation to logistics, including:
  • Tracking carrier emissions statistics and applying data for monthly reporting.
  • Setting feasible emission reduction targets.
  • Create and monitor emissions tracking throughout the product supply chain.
  • Develop and maintain a Sustainability page on the SharePoint Site.
  • Collate data from relevant business units for reporting purposes.
  • Share updates on sustainability initiatives with stakeholders.
  • Facilitate discussions with suppliers to ensure compliance with the Human and Labour Rights policy.
  • Establish methods for recording supplier work chain policies.
  • Periodically review and update governance-related policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and update Business Continuity Plans for Guernsey and UK entities and assist with periodic testing.
  • Support the ongoing update of the Risk and Internal Control Scorecard Assessment.
  • Conduct internal controls reviews and gap analysis for various entities.
  • Ensure employee completion of governance policy reviews and follow up accordingly.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in a sustainability or governance-related role.
  • Strong interest in sustainability and sustainable practices.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Experience collaborating across various departments.
  • Ability to multitask and manage conflicting workloads.
  • Capacity to work independently and take responsibility.
  • Effective communication skills.
