Our client is seeking an experienced Director for Private Clients to manage a portfolio of ultra-high net worth individuals and families. This role encompasses full primary client responsibility, supported by a skilled team of trust officers and client accountants, while liaising with advisers as necessary. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in both contentious and non-contentious trust matters, along with a solid understanding of investment issues and trustee risk. Moreover, this position includes marketing and business development responsibilities, encompassing the maintenance and development of relationships with referral sources to expand the firm’s client base. Our client prioritises providing exceptional service, requiring an intimate understanding of clients’ affairs to ensure timely administration and prompt billing processes.
Job Duties:
- Serve as the primary client director for a portfolio of fiduciary clients and as a second director on a defined set of clients.
- Ensure first-class service is delivered to clients by having thorough knowledge of their affairs, ensuring efficient administration, and timely billing and debt collection.
- Provide in-house legal expertise on complex trust matters, estate planning, and family succession issues, while delivering training as required.
- Engage in shared responsibility for business development, contributing to growth through participation in the Business Development Committee.
- Maintain and develop relationships with referrers, generate new business opportunities, and participate actively in marketing efforts including writing proposals and attending relevant conferences.
- Contribute to management matters and specific projects as required and attend board and committee meetings as appropriate.
Job Requirements:
- Qualified solicitor/ICSA/ACCA with 10-15 years PQE.
- Extensive knowledge of private client and trust law, estate and succession planning, and both contentious and non-contentious trusts.
- Understanding of relevant English and Guernsey trust laws and family law matters affecting trusts.
- Strong corporate governance experience with the ability to operate at board level.
- Proven experience in business development and marketing, with strong communication skills to engage high net worth individuals and their advisers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; experience in public speaking at conferences and seminars.
- Experience in delivering in-house training on complex trust matters.
- Strong interest in staff development and mentoring at all levels.
- Demonstrable commercial acumen with a practical approach to problem-solving.
