Our client is looking for a full-time Consultant Compliance Officer to join their team in Guernsey. This role is essential in providing outsourced Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and Money Laundering Compliance Officer (MLCO) services to clients, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards. You will advise clients on regulatory developments and participate in developing compliance programs. The role requires a thorough understanding of compliance risks and involves direct interaction with business partners, regulators, and auditors on regulatory topics. This position supports flexible working arrangements, allowing you to work from home two days a week, although many employees opt to work from the office full-time.
JOB DUTIES:
- Provide outsourced MLRO/MLCO services to clients.
- Advise and assist clients on applicable laws, regulations, and regulatory reporting.
- Develop compliance programs and act as a contact point for compliance inquiries.
- Maintain the Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) register and authorize PEP transaction clearance.
- Perform transaction monitoring and quality control/quality assurance reporting.
- Conduct monthly outsourcing oversight and quality control testing of offshore locations.
- Establish written guidance on effective implementation of compliance programs through policies and procedures.
- Identify and document compliance risks to enhance risk assessments.
- Develop policies and procedures to minimize compliance risk.
- Engage with business partners, regulators, and auditors on regulatory topics.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in regulatory compliance matters.
- Mentor junior employees and review their work.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Significant experience in compliance or risk management is required.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable Guernsey Financial Services Commission (GFSC) laws and regulations is essential.
- Strong analytical and communication skills to consult with clients at board level.
- Ability to analyse and summarise complex information, applying laws to business contexts.
- Proficiency in identifying compliance risks and developing appropriate procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
- A proactive and independent approach is necessary for effective compliance risk management.
- Experience mentoring junior staff is desirable.
