Client Accountant

Our client is seeking a Client Accountant to manage and maintain the financial records of Companies and Trusts. This is a permanent position, offering an opportunity to work with a company that has over 35 years of experience in providing fiduciary services. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with tax laws and regulatory requirements while producing essential financial statements. The role requires an understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles, alongside the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external contacts. The position involves both independent and team-based work, making it ideal for someone with a proactive approach to problem-solving and attention to detail. Job Duties:

  • Preparing financial statements for Trusts and Companies.
  • Managing tax-related work, including Corporation Tax, Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, and Inheritance Tax.
  • Producing solvency certificates, tax certificates, and interest certificates.
  • Maintaining reports on stockpiled gains and losses.
  • Preparing monthly accounts statistics.
  • Assisting with the submission of annual statutory returns for Guernsey and BVI.
  • Maintaining technical expertise in relevant systems, including Excel.
  • Resolving accounting queries and investigating discrepancies.
  • Undertaking any other duties as requested by management.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in bookkeeping.
  • Understanding of IFRS and GAAP.
  • Practical experience is essential, although specific experience in the Trust or fiduciary sector is not required.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well within a team as well as independently.
  • Confidence in liaising with internal and external contacts.
  • Ideally working towards an accountancy qualification.
