Temporary PA to Headteacher & Examination Officer

Our client is seeking a qualified individual for the role of temporary PA to Headteacher and Examination Officer, which is anticipated to commence in May/June 2026. This is a temporary agency position, with the possibility of becoming permanent employment with the institution. The role will be primarily part-time, requiring 22.5 hours per week during the academic year. From September to April and in July, working hours will be from 12:00 to 16:30, Monday to Friday. During May and June, the hours will increase to 40 hours per week, running from 08:00 to 16:30, providing an opportunity for flexibility. The successful candidate will be responsible for a broad range of administrative tasks to support the Headteacher, allowing them to focus on essential duties within the college. Additionally, the role will transition into the Examination Officer responsibilities during the examination periods, ensuring that all exams are conducted in line with educational regulations. Full training will be provided, making this position suitable for candidates with strong administrative skills, even if they lack specific experience in examination coordination.

Job Duties:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for the Headteacher, dealing with correspondence and phone calls.
  • Managing diaries and organising meetings and appointments, ensuring effective access to the Headmaster.
  • Booking and arranging travel, transport, and accommodation for the Headteacher.
  • Organising events and conferences and reminding the Headteacher of important tasks and deadlines.
  • Typing, compiling, and preparing reports, presentations, and correspondence.
  • Managing databases and filing systems while implementing and maintaining administrative procedures.
  • Liaising with staff, parents, and students regarding administrative inquiries.
  • Supporting the Headteacher in all administrative tasks associated with staff recruitment.
  • Helping to oversee all arrangements for public external examination entries, including GCSEs and A-levels.
  • Serving as the primary point of contact for exam-related inquiries and providing accurate information regarding examination schedules and procedures.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong qualifications relevant to the post.
  • Existing experience in an administrative role.
  • Familiarity with exam coordination is a plus.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficient IT skills and familiarity with standard software packages.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
