Our client is seeking a Tax Manager based in Jersey to join their team. The successful candidate will engage with a diverse range of clients, including Channel Island and UK-based corporates, private clients, and entrepreneurs. The role will encompass advising on tax structures, particularly related to inward investment into the UK and Europe. Daily responsibilities will include ad-hoc advisory assignments, due-diligence support, compliance services, managing correspondence from tax authorities, supporting the audit department concerning tax audits, and contributing to business development initiatives. The primary focus will be on managing a mixed client portfolio, while also assisting the Tax Director with client work and departmental development. Candidates should aspire to be all-round business advisers who offer proactive services and innovative tax solutions. Essential qualities include self-motivation, the ability to meet tight deadlines, and excellent interpersonal skills. Ideally, candidates will possess UK and Jersey tax experience, particularly in property tax, and either hold the CTA qualification or be willing to pursue one.
Job Duties:
- Oversee all day-to-day tax compliance affairs and advisory matters.
- Act as a responsible representative for the firm in all client interactions.
- Deliver efficient and proactive services to clients, ensuring their needs are fully met.
- Manage a mixed portfolio of personal and company clients, maintaining regular contact, and taking responsibility for billing and cash collection.
- Control cost budgets, adhere to reporting timetables, and prepare key client reporting documents.
- Provide potential client solutions on technical matters to the Tax Director.
- Actively manage deadlines and budget pressures, escalating issues to the Tax Director as necessary.
- Produce work for Director review that requires minimal further input and clearly identifies issues and potential solutions.
- Identify and consult with the Tax Director regarding risk and technical matters.
- Recognise selling opportunities to discuss with the Tax Director.
- Engage in bid proposals for new work opportunities.
- Foster strong working relationships with the audit team and wider firm.
- Commit to ongoing self-development and professional education.
- Ensure that professional standards are consistently met.
- Update the department on changes in local and UK tax practices affecting clients.
- Show a genuine interest in understanding clients’ businesses and delivering exceptional service.
- Assist Senior Managers and Client Directors in ensuring compliance with financial crime policies and procedures.
Job Requirements:

- CTA and/or ACA qualified (or equivalent), demonstrating post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical knowledge and analytical skills.
- Proven ability to present information clearly and concisely.
