Head of Client Accounting

This permanent role requires an individual to take charge of client accounting, overseeing the financial reporting and tax compliance for a portfolio of trusts, corporate structures, and funds. The position involves ensuring the timely preparation of financial statements, quarterly net asset reports, and loan interest certificates for approximately 850 entities. The successful candidate will also ensure regulatory and legal compliance within all financial activities and reporting. This role operates at a senior leadership level, driving departmental strategy and optimising processes to align with overall business objectives. The individual will manage external audit processes for regulated clients and implement governance frameworks while standardising financial policies. Additionally, the role includes the resolution of tax queries and compliance with evolving regulations. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership and operational excellence across cross-jurisdictional accounting teams.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee group financial reporting and tax compliance for a portfolio of trusts, corporate entities, and funds.
  • Ensure the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, net asset reports, and loan interest certificates.
  • Supervise and manage accounting and bookkeeping teams, fostering performance through mentoring and KPI management.
  • Drive departmental strategy and long-term vision for the client accounting function.
  • Manage the external audit process for regulated clients to ensure compliance with regulatory deadlines.
  • Implement robust governance frameworks and standardise financial policies while deploying digital accounting tools.
  • Ensure timely submission and accuracy of Guernsey tax, UK Corporation Tax, and VAT returns.
  • Manage tax compliance and regulatory filings, ensuring adherence to financial regulations.

Job Requirements:

  • ACCA, ACA, or CIMA qualified.
  • Expertise in client accounting with a deep understanding of trust sector accounting principles, including IFRS and GAAP.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading financial teams and driving performance.
  • Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accurate processes and reports.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
