Claims Handler

This position involves contributing to the delivery of business objectives by providing a local, high-quality claims service to customers. The role focuses on ensuring claims are managed in accordance with established quality and compliance standards. Candidates will demonstrate excellent customer service through product knowledge, behaviours, and teamwork, while also proactively suggesting improvements where appropriate. Collaboration with team members, other departments, and external service providers is essential. The Claims Handler will handle claims independently, maintain effective communication, and develop strong business relationships. This engaged approach aims to maximise business performance and support the achievement of overall business objectives. The ideal candidate will also provide on-the-job training to others and contribute to enhancing the effectiveness of the Claims Team.

  • Handle claims in line with claims handling policies and procedures, delivering a high-quality service to customers.
  • Understand and contribute to achieving the company's strategy, philosophy, and values.
  • Develop effective business relationships both internally and externally.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues and customers to optimise business performance.
  • Assist the Claims Manager in meeting business objectives by adhering to customer service guidelines.
  • Make proactive contributions to the effectiveness of the Claims Team by suggesting improvements.
  • Provide training to team members as needed.
  • Maintain an allocated caseload of claims across various lines of business independently.
  • Deliver short-term or one-off projects and ad hoc activities as required by the Claims Leadership Team.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum GCSE level in Mathematics and English.
  • Entry-level CII Professional qualification or willingness to pursue required training for a career in the Insurance Industry.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a professional, approachable, and friendly manner.
  • Experience in a busy, customer-focused environment, either face to face or via the telephone.
  • Analytical and inquisitive mindset with strong attention to detail.
