This role involves taking on the prescribed responsibilities of the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for the primary Guernsey entity, with the potential to serve as MLRO or Deputy MLRO for other related entities depending on experience. The role holder is tasked with being the in-house and external expert on MLRO matters, including assessing, setting, and documenting the risk-based approach to managing and controlling financial crime risks across all businesses. This position entails close cooperation with the Head of Compliance and the Money Laundering Compliance Officer (MLCO) to provide second-line oversight and compliance advice, aiding management in identifying and understanding risk drivers. The individual will contribute to the Group-wide Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) framework while ensuring that the entity's risk appetite concerning financial crime risk is met, leading to positive outcomes for customers. The role also requires designing effective frameworks to ensure compliance with relevant policies aligned with local legal and regulatory requirements.
Job Duties:
- Act as the primary liaison point for matters relating to enquiries by law enforcement and other authorities concerning policyholder affairs.
- Monitor external compliance developments and advise senior management on necessary internal changes to ensure compliance with regulatory changes.
- Design financial crime frameworks compliant with relevant policies while supporting the business strategy.
- Manage forensic financial crime investigations and oversee customer due diligence standards.
- Assess anti-bribery, anti-corruption, sanctions, and money laundering risks, setting appetites and monitoring threats.
- Assist in developing and maintaining a culture of compliance and adherence throughout the organisation.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting, including the presentation of quarterly Financial Crime reports to the Board and relevant committees.
- Maintain oversight of triggers, periodic reviews, and reconciliation processes relating to financial crime documentation.
Job Requirements:
- Previous or current regulatory approval as an MLRO.
- Formal qualification in Compliance and/or Financial Crime.
- Strong analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and proven accuracy.
- Excellent time management, organisational, and prioritisation skills paired with a results-focused mindset.
- Demonstrated experience in a financial crime role within the finance sector, having previously held an MLRO position in a regulated entity.
- Robust understanding of compliance, regulatory, and legislative requirements across Guernsey, UK, EU, and Singapore.
- Capability to build strong relationships at all levels and across multiple regions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Compliance systems.
- Ability to provide professional, client-focused approaches and continuously seek process enhancements.
