Head of Operations

The Head of Operations role involves the development and management of residential, supported living, and day care/work services for adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, or mental health support needs. This position is full-time and is located on the Isle of Man. Applicants must either be residents or hold a work permit at the time of appointment. The responsibilities include ensuring that services are people-focused and uphold respect, privacy, dignity, fulfilment, independence, and choice for those supported. The successful candidate will oversee the development of care plans, provide effective leadership, and manage staff while keeping budgets in mind. Additional duties involve liaising with various stakeholders, participating in committees, and assisting in project development. The role also requires adherence to performance management processes and ensuring all policies are followed diligently.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure all work is centred around the needs and wellbeing of individuals receiving care.
  • Act as an advocate for the people supported, addressing any difficulties they may encounter.
  • Oversee the development and review of care plans on a needs-led basis.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and management of staff, ensuring projects are adequately resourced.
  • Manage workloads and address staff development needs effectively.
  • Assist in project development and policy formulation in collaboration with the Regional Director of Care.
  • Prepare and monitor annual budgets, making necessary financial recommendations.
  • Liaise with carers, professionals, and community groups to support client needs.
  • Participate in relevant committees and working groups.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management role within a health and social care setting.
  • Qualifications in Social Work, 1st Level Nursing, or an Allied Health Profession, alongside Level 5 in Leadership for Health and Social Care Services.
  • Demonstrable project management experience and experience with policy review.
  • Knowledge of accredited quality systems and the legislative environment impacting care provision in the Isle of Man.
  • Familiarity with local commissioning and provider environments concerning care services.
