This role is part of the Credit and Lending Services Team and involves supporting the effective execution, completion, and ongoing management of lending transactions throughout the life of the loan. It is a broad, practical position situated at the intersection of legal support, lending execution, credit process, and portfolio administration. The individual will help ensure that lending matters are progressed efficiently and accurately, meeting internal legal, credit, operational, and risk management requirements. Job Duties:
- Support the completion of lending transactions, including the preparation and completion of lending documentation, and take simple transactions through to completion with necessary support.
- Manage or support lending transactions through to drawdown, including monitoring any credit-related matters.
- Provide guidance to the lending team on client or transaction matters that arise.
- Identify, escalate, and assist in resolving legal, credit, operational, or completion-related issues in a timely manner.
- Adhere to processes and procedures to effectively manage legal, credit, and operational risk.
- Coordinate post-drawdown matters, including standing order arrangements and outstanding conditions subsequent.
- Respond to queries from stakeholders and provide appropriate lending matter updates as required.
- Maintain security and loan records per internal procedures, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support the effective management of the Bank's legal, credit, and operational risk relating to its lending portfolio.
- Maintain and update client and lending records in the banking system.
- Instruct and liaise with external counsel where appropriate in connection with new loan facilities and related matters.
- Draft, finalise, and issue facility documentation for new loan facilities and amendments.
- Contribute to projects that enhance team efficiency and align with technological changes.
- Identify and suggest improvements in processes to strengthen controls and increase efficiency.
- Support reporting activities regarding lending transactions and portfolio matters.
- Review facility documentation drafted by team members and provide sign off at completion where authorised.
Job Requirements:
- Legal experience as a paralegal or in a legal assistant role, or relevant experience in credit operations, lending administration, or deal management.
- Experience in property transactions, banking and finance, secured lending, or loans administration is advantageous.
- Familiarity with lending documentation, security, completion processes, and post-completion administration, or a willingness to develop this knowledge.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
