Client Accounts Manager - Malta

The Client Accounts Manager role involves overseeing the preparation, review, and delivery of financial statements for a diverse portfolio of client entities, such as trusts and companies. This full-time position reports directly to the Senior Client Accounting Manager and ensures accuracy, compliance, and adherence to reporting deadlines. The successful candidate will manage and develop a team of qualified and part-qualified accountants while enhancing accounting processes and operational efficiencies. This role is crucial in maintaining strong client relationships, providing technical accounting guidance, and delivering high-quality financial reporting along with ad hoc management information. The Client Accounts Manager will also play an active role in coaching team members, ensuring an environment that fosters collaboration and professional growth.

Job Duties:

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and quality control of financial statements and other accounting deliverables, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies and procedures, relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, and industry best practices.
  • Manage, prioritise, and allocate workloads across the team to meet internal service standards and client deadlines consistently.
  • Conduct performance reviews and annual appraisals, providing constructive feedback while supporting the professional development of team members.
  • Oversee the bookkeeping function, offering technical guidance and ensuring accurate and timely completion of all bookkeeping activities.
  • Act as a key point of contact for clients, intermediaries, and professional advisers, addressing accounting-related matters from routine queries to complex technical issues.
  • Participate in client and prospective client meetings, supporting relationship management and business development initiatives as required.
  • Coach, mentor, and supervise team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performing, and client-focused culture while promoting continuous learning and development.

Job Requirements:

  • Attainment of a relevant professional qualification, e.g., ACA or ACCA.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in client accounting or a similar role.
  • Relevant accounting experience gained in a client accounting environment would be considered an asset.
  • Good communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • A pro-active approach to addressing clients’ needs, particularly regarding new technical developments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and resolve technical matters using available resources.
  • Pro-active approach to self-improvement to maintain up-to-date knowledge of international accounting standards and filing deadlines in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and within deadlines with moderate supervision.
