This role entails providing support to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in the development and execution of people-focused cultural change initiatives, recruitment strategies, and organisational structures within the Group Services team. The successful individual will work collaboratively with the COO and Group Services Directors based in Jersey, serving as a high-quality HR relationship manager and advisor. The contract is for a duration of 12 months, with standard working hours of 37.5 hours per week, from 09:00 to 17:30, and hybrid working is available, allowing four days in the office and one day from home. The responsibilities span across various functions, providing insights for decision-making, managing employee relations, and addressing HR practicalities within the organisation. This position requires full engagement with directors, line managers, and employees, ensuring adherence to policies and local legislation while fostering an efficient and supportive HR environment.
Job Duties:
- Provide insight and challenge to support the COO in decision-making on organisational design, workforce planning, and service optimisation.
- Support the COO in monitoring and improving performance through effective use of people metrics, KPIs, and insights.
- Provide high-quality HR advice and guidance to directors and managers to facilitate the early resolution of employee relation issues, managing associated risks effectively.
- Advise employees and managers on the interpretation and application of HR policies and procedures in accordance with local legislation and the Employee Handbook.
- Develop an in-depth understanding of the nuances and complexities of the location and departments supported.
- Provide support on significant annual HR processes such as the Annual Salary Review and bonus recommendations.
- Facilitate coordination and documentation for all internal and external secondments and transfers as required.
- Conduct weekly HR induction sessions for new joiners when necessary.
- Hold parental leave discussions with employees as needed, providing relevant paperwork and actions associated.
- Schedule employee retirement discussions and conduct exit interviews to gather insights into reasons for leaving while aiding retention strategy development.
- Seek continual process improvements to drive efficiency within the HR function.
- Provide assistance in managing high absence where necessary.
- Prepare reports, documentation, and presentations required regularly and on an ad hoc basis.
- Cover workload during the absence of the Relationship Manager.
Job Requirements:
- At least 4 years of experience in an HR advisory role.
- Preferred experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
- Ideally fully CIPD qualified.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise and multitask effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, comfortable engaging across all levels.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take initiative confidently.
- Strong attention to detail with the capacity to maintain confidentiality.
