Our client is looking for a Head of Health, Safety, Quality and Environment (HSQE) Compliance to join their Pan Island Risk and Compliance Function. This role is based in Jersey and Guernsey and is a key member of the senior management team, reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO). As the HSQE ambassador, you will develop strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels, drive cultural change and business improvement initiatives, ensure adherence to regulatory, quality, and ISO compliance, and lead the environmental strategy for the organisation. This position is full-time and permanent.
JOB DUTIES:
- Establish clear goals and objectives for the business to set high standards of HSQE performance and compliance.
- Develop and maintain a regulatory and ISO compliant HSQE policy and procedures framework, ensuring consistent embedding within the business.
- Maintain the necessary legal, enterprise, and HSQE risk registers, ensuring Board review and compliance.
- Ensure accreditations with regulatory organisations are established and retained while fulfilling related activities throughout the business.
- Escalate regulatory breaches and Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR) incidents to senior management and Directors as per the escalation policy.
- Oversee all regulatory and auditor engagement concerning HSQE matters, supported by the Board.
- Monitor Manager performance against targets and address systemic issues as they arise.
- Effectively manage the HSQE budget and influence the efficient deployment of resources to meet HSQE objectives.
- Work collaboratively with Directors and senior management to identify and introduce continuous business improvement initiatives.
- Proactively lead the HSQE team, ensuring effective communication and engagement, performance management, and development.
- Lead the HSQE culture and develop plans to continuously improve performance.
- Identify and support the HSQE mentoring, training, and development needs of managers, supervisors, and employees.
- Manage HSQE performance objectives for teams and collaborate with senior management to assess employee performance.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, participating in Executive Committee and Board meetings, and leading regular HSQE Committee meetings.
- Ensure HSQE contractual obligations are fulfilled and customer expectations are exceeded.
- Conduct ongoing reviews of product, supplier, and subcontractor selection to maintain HSQE compliance.
- Carry out regular site visits to foster positive interactions with customers and colleagues.
- Provide strategic advice to Directors for modifications to business policies, systems, and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and coordinate strategic operational programmes and administrative projects as required.
- Lead the development of relevant company policies and procedures, recognizing necessary information and communication technology (ICT) needs throughout the organisation.

- Must be computer literate with experience using health and safety systems/software.
- Interisland travel for work activities and cross-training may be necessary, with occasional out-of-hours attendance required.
- A current, category B driving licence is essential.
