Business Risk Control Manager, IWI

Our client is seeking a full-time Business Risk Control Manager to join their team in Jersey, focused on International Wealth & Investments. This pivotal role entails managing first-line business risk and control activities within a dynamic financial services environment. You will provide risk-related advice, assurance, and oversight to business stakeholders, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards. Your efforts will facilitate the identification, assessment, management, and reporting of Anti-Money Laundering, operational, client, and business risks. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in banking risk and control, coupled with a commitment to fostering a culture of compliance and continuous improvement.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Manage first-line business risk and control activities, providing effective oversight and constructive challenge to stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of escalation for complex AML, operational risk, and business control matters, ensuring effective resolution and tracking of issues.
  • Deliver training to enhance awareness and compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
  • Analyse risk, control, and incident data to identify trends and provide insights, recommending corrective actions as necessary.
  • Drive Risk and Control Self-Assessment processes, engaging with stakeholders to assess control effectiveness and support remediation efforts.
  • Ensure proper identification and recording of operational risk incidents, ensuring accurate data is available for analysis and reporting.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of business risk management frameworks and processes, identifying gaps and opportunities for automation to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • A first degree in Business Commerce is essential.
  • 5–7 years of experience in a banking risk and control environment is required.
  • Extensive knowledge of AML, operational risk management, first-line controls, and regulatory compliance is crucial.
  • Proven ability to interpret regulatory requirements and assess control effectiveness effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing practical risk guidance to business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to examine information, make informed decisions, and provide meaningful insights.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills are necessary.
  • High levels of integrity, professionalism, and discretion are vital for this role.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and a hands-on attitude are needed.
  • Proficiency in relevant financial industry regulatory frameworks is essential.
