Senior Tax Consultant, Family Office & Private Client

Our client is seeking a Senior Tax Consultant within their Family Office and Private Client tax team in Jersey. This full-time position offers a stimulating opportunity for an experienced professional to contribute to the growing demands of the organization. You will report directly to the Private Client Tax Manager and will be an integral part of a dynamic team. The role encompasses local and UK tax compliance and the drafting of intricate tax advice to assist clients with their tax responsibilities. In this multifaceted role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of individual and corporate clients, taking on substantial responsibility for both tax compliance and advisory work. You will engage directly with clients, offering invaluable insights while overseeing junior team members and enhancing the team’s overall performance.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Regularly draft written tax advice including memos, letters, reports, and email correspondence.
  • Oversee a portfolio of individual and corporate compliance, supervise the work of junior members of the team, and conduct first reviews of tax returns.
  • Attend client meetings alongside management and act as a principal point of contact for client communication.
  • Stay abreast of changes in local and international tax matters and aid in producing informative bulletins for clients.
  • Independently administer and manage projects from inception to completion, liaising with international offices when necessary.
  • Mentor and coach junior members of the team, providing constructive feedback and relevant training.
  • Combine tax compliance with advisory responsibilities, ensuring high-quality written work and computations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Possess a passion for learning and an innate curiosity regarding personal development.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively research and articulate cohesive arguments on complex points of tax law.
  • Exhibit fluency in English with excellent written communication skills.
  • Possess strong communication skills to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Have previous experience in a practice accounting environment; industry experience will also be considered.
  • Be ACA, CA, ACCA, CTA, or ATT qualified, or part-qualified with the intention to complete certification within the next 6–12 months.
  • Possess a solid technical understanding of personal tax issues including income, capital gains, and inheritance taxes.
  • Preferably have prior experience in a private client setting or demonstrate a sound understanding of relevant tax principles.
  • Ideally hold a background in law or accounting, though this is not strictly essential.
