Network Services Engineer

Our client is seeking a Network Services Engineer to join their friendly team. The role involves operational delivery of enterprise network and security services, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, firewalls, and managed network products. This is a hands-on position requiring a high level of technical expertise, customer service, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The role includes participation in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24/7 technical support. 


Job Duties: 

  • Manage network and security incidents, providing root cause analysis and escalating as required.
  • Perform requests for changes to managed devices, ensuring adherence to change management procedures.
  • Support operational delivery of managed and essential support services, including incident, problem, and change management.
  • Monitor and maintain network support systems and tools, ensuring high service reliability.
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, processes, and knowledge articles.
  • Implement and support wired and wireless networks, including Cisco, Cisco Meraki, Ubiquiti, and Fortinet hardware.
  • Coordinate datacentre operations, including cabling, rack delivery, and maintaining tidiness.
  • Act as a resource for technical projects, assisting in design, configuration, and deployment of new services.
  • Review change advisory board documents and produce comprehensive project documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, regulatory requirements, and data protection laws.

 

Job Requirements: 

  • Cisco CCNA certification or the ability to obtain it within one year.
  • Experience with IP routing and switching environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience with Cisco networking products, Fortinet firewalls, and Ubiquiti solutions.
  • ITIL Foundation certification is highly desirable.
  • Educated to at least A-level/BTEC Level 3 standard with good results.
  • Flexibility to work remotely, on-site, and during irregular hours, including holidays and weekends.
