Our client is seeking a Regulatory Specialist to provide technical and strategic advice on regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions. This senior role involves advising on regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning. While no staff management is currently required, the ability to lead a team in the future would be beneficial. The role requires the ability to manage multiple regulatory projects independently while working collaboratively with internal teams and external regulatory bodies.
Job Duties:
- Develop regulatory strategies aligned with the organisation’s commercial objectives.
- Advise on regulatory risks and opportunities, providing strategic recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant licences, laws, and regulations across jurisdictions.
- Engage with commercial, technical, and marketing teams to support business objectives.
- Liaise with regulatory bodies and governments, including negotiations on price controls, licence renewals, and spectrum applications.
- Provide guidance on competition law principles and their application to the communications sector.
- Update senior management on key regulatory developments and their impact.
- Manage external legal and regulatory advisors when required.
- Deliver regulatory and legal compliance training to staff.
- Support negotiations on interconnection and wholesale services.
- Provide legal advice on consumer rights, advertising, and promotions if qualified.
- Oversee regulatory finance processes, including cost-based product data and price control frameworks.
- Ensure compliance with data protection, health and safety policies, and information security responsibilities.
Job Requirements:
- At least five years’ experience in a regulatory role, ideally within the telecoms industry or a telecoms regulator.
- Expertise in licence compliance, regulatory consultations, and business-as-usual regulatory matters.
- Ability to apply technical regulatory knowledge to commercial objectives, including drafting regulatory submissions.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills with regulatory bodies and government entities.
- Experience managing multiple regulatory projects independently.
- Ability to communicate regulatory principles clearly to non-specialists.
- Highly organised with the ability to prioritise competing demands effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a commercial and pragmatic approach.
