Our client is seeking a Senior Applications Administrator and Solutions Developer to be responsible for the design, development, management, maintenance, documentation, and support of the Firm’s Microsoft data platforms and solutions. This is a full-time role, with contractual hours of 36.25 per week. The successful candidate will take the lead in implementing business solutions using Microsoft SQL platforms, and will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure seamless deployment and ongoing system support.
Job Duties:
- Lead the implementation of solutions using Microsoft SQL platforms and related technologies.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Propose scalable, secure, and usable solutions that align with business goals.
- Customise dashboards and reports using SSRS and Power BI.
- Integrate data from various in-house and external systems.
- Conduct rigorous testing of solutions, identifying and resolving issues.
- Deploy solutions to production environments while ensuring minimal disruption to users.
- Manage the configuration and maintenance of on-premises and cloud-based Microsoft SQL platforms.
- Monitor systems and solutions, troubleshooting issues and performing maintenance tasks.
- Manage and monitor Service Requests and Changes in the Service Desk system.
- Provide second- and third-level support for third-party applications and platforms.
- Train and coach colleagues and junior staff members.
- Stay updated on relevant technologies, best practices, and skills.
- Define and follow in-house coding standards and techniques.
- Reduce technical debt and optimise solutions for performance, scalability, and security.
- Ensure excellent client service and meet project and task deadlines.
- Handle a varied range of queries and projects.
- Apply internal risk management procedures and ensure junior team members adhere to them.
- Produce high-quality technical documentation and ensure time sheets are completed.
- Serve as the point of contact for juniors on technical and professional matters.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required.
Job Requirements:
- 3-5 years’ experience developing solutions using Microsoft SQL technologies, including SQL Server, Azure SQL, Visual Studio, SSMS, SSIS, SSRS, and Power BI.
- In-depth knowledge of databases, schemas, tables, views, queries, stored procedures, functions, indexes, triggers, and security.
- Proficiency in writing clean, efficient T-SQL queries and code for data manipulation, analytics, and reporting.
- Strong understanding of data integration, data warehousing, ETL, and related concepts.
- Knowledge of source control systems (e.g., SVN, GIT) and Agile methodologies (e.g., SCRUM, CI/CD).
- Familiarity with ITIL (v4) processes.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Power Query.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively with business stakeholders.
- Ability to work well in a team, with consistent attention to detail.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills, with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proactive, adaptable, and capable of handling a variety of tasks.
- Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- High level of tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
