Our client is seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join their Cloud Services team on a permanent, full-time basis. Based in Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man, this role involves leading the design, deployment and third-line support of enterprise-grade cloud infrastructure, including IaaS, disaster recovery, backup, network and security services. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced infrastructure professional to work across a varied technology stack, collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Job Duties:
- Design, administer and support VMware vCloud, vCenter, vSphere and associated storage technologies
- Provide third-line support for Linux, Windows and SQL environments
- Support and manage virtual networking (VMware NSX) and physical networking
- Maintain and configure firewalls and other security devices
- Investigate and resolve complex technical issues
- Act as a consultant for infrastructure and cloud onboarding projects
- Raise and manage third-party support cases as needed
- Create and maintain technical documentation and procedures
- Mentor junior colleagues on infrastructure technologies
- Balance project delivery with operational support responsibilities
- Assist with commercial proposals and technical documentation
- Deliver presentations on cloud services strategy to stakeholders
- Work with clients on infrastructure design, migration, and disaster recovery planning
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota to support cloud services
Job Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior infrastructure role, preferably within a service provider environment
- Expert knowledge of IT infrastructure, including hardware, OS, storage, virtualisation and security
- Strong knowledge of backup and replication technologies
- Professional certifications such as VCP, MCSE, CCNP or equivalent
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently
- Ability to work independently and resolve problems proactively
- Highly organised with strong time management skills
- Experience managing client relationships at various seniority levels
- Familiarity with ITIL, ISO27001 and PCI-DSS standards preferred
- Must hold a satisfactory Basic Police Disclosure
