Developer, Value Financials, Senior Associate

Our client is seeking a skilled Developer to join their Value Financials team in Guernsey, with flexibility for the right candidate to work from Jersey. This full-time position entails a contracted 37.5 hours per week, where you will play a crucial role in designing, building, and maintaining automation layers that enable clients to generate, transform, and distribute high-quality financial statements. Your expertise in Python-based automation, integration, and tooling will be vital to the team’s success and the satisfaction of their clients.

Job Duties:

  • Architect and implement Python scripts, modules, and frameworks for automation of ETL processes between client systems and Value Financials.
  • Participate in DevOps operations, ensuring customer success through onboarding and support.
  • Design user experiences that prioritise high quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with Financial Reporting specialists to develop and update electronic templates, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Build and maintain standardised integrations with finance systems (such as NavOne and Efront), data warehouses, and third-party APIs.
  • Write unit and integration tests and establish continuous integration pipelines to uphold code quality.
  • Generate clear technical documentation, runbooks, and best-practice guides for internal teams and clients.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to mid-level developers, fostering knowledge sharing and code reviews.

Job Requirements:

  • 3+ years of professional experience with Python, including deep knowledge of core libraries and best practices.
  • Proven track record of building automations on top of third-party RESTful APIs, with familiarity in the OpenAPI standard being desirable.
  • Hands-on experience with testing frameworks like pytest, containerisation with Docker, and CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
  • Proficiency in Git workflows and branching strategies.
  • Comfort working in Agile environments, such as Scrum or Kanban, and ability to break down complex features into user stories.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
