Trust Officer

Our client is seeking a qualified Trust Officer to join their Private Wealth department in Guernsey. This full-time and permanent position offers an opportunity to deliver first-class services to a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring satisfaction and adherence to established procedures. As a Trust Officer, you will be responsible for the efficient administration and management of client affairs, all while receiving support for your ongoing professional development. The primary focus of this role is to autonomously manage a portfolio of clients, prioritising their needs and coordinating with colleagues where necessary. You will work closely with clients and professional intermediaries, assisting in the growth of relationships to uphold the high service standards expected by our client.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Manage a portfolio of clients autonomously, ensuring day-to-day affairs are effectively administered in line with appointment terms.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation according to group procedures.
  • Deliver a high level of service to new and existing clients, liaising with customers regarding their managed entities and investments.
  • Develop relationships with clients and intermediaries to ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Attend meetings with clients and/or their advisers in Guernsey or overseas as directed by your line manager.
  • Oversee the maintenance of both legal/statutory and accounting records for clients.
  • Complete all trust control functions within agreed deadlines, including periodic reviews, account preparation, and updating registers.
  • Ensure that all client assets are correctly identified, allocated, and under complete control of the trust company or its representatives.
  • Adhere to relevant group procedures and proactively suggest enhancements to existing processes as necessary.
  • Comply with obligations stated in the client’s procedures manual, specifically the operational section.
  • Review financial statements for the entities under the client's administration.
  • Assist the Senior Trust Officer when workloads demand additional support.
  • Provide training and support to direct reports to ensure the role is performed to the required standard.
  • Carry out additional duties as requested by colleagues within the team.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a Trust Administration role or similar is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise workloads effectively to manage a caseload successfully.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage relationships with clients, advisers, and colleagues effectively.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • A proactive approach combined with decisive thinking and initiative.
  • Sound technical knowledge and experience in administering offshore structures.
  • High level of integrity, resilience, and flexibility in work.
  • Strong personal drive and commitment to the role.
  • A desire to pursue professional qualifications as needed.
  • A positive mindset and willingness to assist colleagues when required.
