Our client is seeking a versatile and client-focused Senior IT Engineer to join their growing team. This role presents an opportunity for individuals with strong technical foundations to take ownership of client environments and advance into a relationship-driven position. The successful candidate will provide end-to-end support, spanning from 1st to 3rd line, across both on-premise and cloud-based infrastructures. A key aspect of the role involves developing trusted partnerships with clients, ensuring their IT needs are met with proficiency. The engineer will deliver hands-on support across various issues, manage and maintain hybrid infrastructures, and ensure compliance with information security best practices. Additionally, the role includes onboarding new clients and projects, contributing to ITIL-aligned service delivery processes, and maintaining accurate records using ITSM tools. This full-time position may require participation in an on-call rota, providing support outside of standard working hours as necessary.
Job Duties:
- Deliver hands-on support across 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line issues for client environments.
- Manage and maintain hybrid infrastructure, including on-premise servers, Azure, and Microsoft 365.
- Maintain and support identity and access management platforms, including Active Directory and Azure Entra ID.
- Provide technical support via helpdesk, remote tools, and on-site visits.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their needs and proactively improve their IT environments.
- Escalate and resolve complex issues while ensuring timely and professional communication.
- Maintain accurate records of time, billing, and ticketing using ITSM tools.
- Support and contribute to ITIL-aligned service delivery processes.
- Assist in onboarding new clients and projects, including documentation and setup.
- Ensure compliance with information security best practices and policies.
- Participate in an on-call rota, providing support outside of standard working hours as scheduled.
Job Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in IT support or infrastructure engineering.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 services, including Microsoft Entra ID and hybrid identity setups.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and ITSM tooling.
- Understanding of information security principles and data protection.
- Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across hardware, software, and networks.
- Strong communication skills and a client-first mindset.
- Ability to manage time effectively and work independently or as part of a team.
- Must hold a full driving licence.
- Experience working in a managed service provider or consultancy environment is desirable.
- Exposure to cloud migration projects or hybrid cloud architecture is beneficial.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: M365 Administrator, ITIL Foundation, or similar are advantageous.
