Temporary Business Analyst - 12 months

Our client is seeking a Business Analyst to cover a maternity leave for a period of 12 months. The successful candidate will act as the crucial link between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that business needs are understood, documented, and effectively translated into solutions. This role involves analysing processes, gathering requirements, and supporting change initiatives aimed at improving business performance and customer outcomes. The Business Analyst will engage with various stakeholders to identify pain points and opportunities through workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions. Additionally, this position will require the documentation of functional and non-functional requirements and an analysis of workflows and system behaviour. Furthermore, the successful candidate will participate in process mapping and assist in validating solution designs alongside third-party stakeholders. This position will also involve collaboration with change team members to facilitate successful delivery, training, and user acceptance testing.

Job Duties:

  • Engage with stakeholders to understand business needs, pain points, and opportunities.
  • Facilitate workshops, interviews, and discovery sessions.
  • Document functional and non-functional requirements using appropriate techniques.
  • Analyse data, workflows, and system behaviour to define the “as-is” and “to-be” state.
  • Map and model business processes using BPMN or other standards.
  • Identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements aligned with business strategy.
  • Support development of new processes, policies, and operating models.
  • Work closely with third parties to ensure proposed solutions meet business needs.
  • Validate solution design and assess impacts on people, processes, and systems.
  • Support creation of acceptance criteria and test scenarios.
  • Collaborate with change team members to ensure successful delivery.
  • Support user acceptance testing, training, and readiness activities.
  • Contribute to business cases, benefits mapping, and prioritisation discussions.
  • Build strong working relationships across business units.
  • Communicate complex concepts in clear, accessible language.
  • Ensure alignment and traceability from requirements through to implemented solutions.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to translate business problems into clear requirements.
  • Experience with requirements elicitation techniques.
  • Proficiency in process mapping and modelling tools.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with digital transformation or system implementation projects is a plus.
  • Data analysis skills (Excel, SQL, Power BI, etc.) are advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Change Management principles is beneficial.
  • Business Analysis certifications (e.g., IIBA ECBA/CCBA/CBAP, BCS BA Certificates) are desirable but not essential.
  • 3–5+ years in a Business Analyst role is typical.
