Data Engineer

Our client is seeking a passionate Data Engineer to join their ambitious and friendly in-house Data Team within Information Services. This role presents an exciting challenge with a varied and interesting workload, working alongside a range of Information Services professionals. The Data Engineer will be responsible for designing, creating, and deploying enterprise-scale data analytics solutions, playing a crucial role in transforming data into valuable insights that will drive business decisions. The position requires collaboration with Data Analysts, Data Stewards, and other cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive data solutions, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security.

Job Duties:

  • Build and maintain data pipelines for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes
  • Develop data models and transformation processes using modern data platforms, primarily Microsoft Fabric tools
  • Support Data Warehouse implementation, ensuring data quality and security
  • Create and maintain clear data documentation, including data catalogues and architecture diagrams
  • Optimise data storage and retrieval processes for improved performance
  • Contribute to data governance efforts while learning to implement DataOps philosophy
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering

Job Requirements:

  • Proficiency in SQL, with comfort in writing queries and an understanding of database concepts
  • Experience with or strong interest in data warehousing concepts
  • Some programming experience (Python preferred, but R, Java, Scala, or similar languages are also acceptable)
  • Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, with hands-on experience considered ideal
  • A problem-solving mindset and analytical thinking abilities
  • Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in collaborative teamwork
  • Eagerness to learn and grow in the data engineering space
