Our client is seeking a Head of Private Clients in Guernsey to lead their Private Clients business, delivering fiduciary services across trust, company, and related structures within a regulated environment. This is a permanent leadership role, responsible for overseeing people, governance, and maintaining a strong market presence in the Guernsey private client sector. The successful candidate will act as a director on client entities, making informed and independent decisions to protect client interests while ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations and upholding the client’s high standards. This role involves driving commercial performance, strengthening client relationships, and identifying new growth opportunities in Guernsey and the wider market. The position operates on a hybrid work arrangement with a full-time commitment of 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The ideal candidate will be involved in resolving complex client matters and ensuring high fiduciary governance standards.
Job Duties:
- Lead the Guernsey Private Clients business, aligning local priorities with overall strategy and values
- Coach and develop leaders and teams, focusing on succession planning and recruitment
- Deliver financial performance against targets including revenue growth and profitability
- Build and expand a portfolio of private client business, generating referrals across the organisation
- Act as director on complex client structures, making well-documented decisions supported by legal and regulatory advice
- Maintain high standards of fiduciary governance and provide consistent, professional client service
- Lead resolution of contentious client matters including complaint handling and relationship recovery
- Stay updated on industry developments, mitigating potential impacts on clients and the business
- Oversee higher-risk client transactions, partnering with Compliance and Risk for assessments
- Represent the firm externally, enhancing visibility and reputation within the local business community
Job Requirements:
- Significant leadership experience within regulated fiduciary services or a related professional environment
- Demonstrated capability in senior people leadership, including performance management and team development
- Strong technical expertise in managing private client structures and associated governance
- Proven commercial acumen with experience in budget ownership and new business development
- Professional qualification such as STEP, CGI/ICSA, ACA/ACCA, or equivalent
- Strong stakeholder management skills with effective networking abilities
- Knowledge of systems for managing client portfolios, operational controls, and reporting
- Commitment to professional development and staying informed on technical and regulatory knowledge
- Experience acting as director on complex private client structures and managing sensitive dynamics
- Familiarity with local regulatory expectations for fiduciary providers
- Prior responsibility for a business unit including strategy execution and P&L contribution
