Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Senior Manager to lead their accounting team in Guernsey while providing training, guidance, and support to team members, including those based in Mauritius. This role requires the successful candidate to deliver accounting and financial reporting services to a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring all team deliverables are met. The position entails preparing periodic financial reports according to the relevant accounting and industry standards while offering assistance and advice on accounting matters. Additionally, the Accounting Senior Manager will liaise with clients and auditors as necessary, promoting effective communication and a high-quality service. The successful individual will contribute to maintaining compliance with jurisdictional laws and anti-money laundering regulations, ensuring all duties align with the company's procedures and regulatory requirements.
Job Duties:
- Lead the accounting service line in Guernsey and Mauritius.
- Provide training, guidance, and support to team members, managing workflow effectively.
- Prepare and implement entity-specific procedures related to accounting reporting requirements.
- Deliver sound, quality technical guidance to clients.
- Take ownership of client deliverables, ensuring timely completion as per client expectations.
- Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with recognised GAAP and reporting requirements.
- Supervise and review the production of periodic management accounts and reports, assisting in preparation as necessary.
- Monitor key KPIs of the Mauritian team, reporting any variances against agreed budgets.
- Support automation initiatives as part of client solutions.
- Ensure effective people management, including performance feedback and promoting teamwork.
- Provide advice and assistance to administrative staff on accounting and bookkeeping matters.
- Assist directors with client meetings, new business pitches, and proposals, producing thought leadership for publication.
- Support the audit process to complete milestones and deadlines efficiently.
- Maintain and develop knowledge of private equity and real estate accounting matters.
- Perform ad hoc financial reporting tasks as required.
- Comply with jurisdictional laws and regulations and anti-money laundering requirements.
- Carry out any other duties as may be necessary, reflecting the evolving nature of the role and team.
- Display and adhere to the vision and values of the organisation in all aspects of the role.
Job Requirements:
- Relevant accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) or proven relevant experience.
- Experience of IFRS and UK GAAP.
- Relevant industry experience.
- Proven experience supervising, guiding, and coaching staff.
- Strong knowledge of laws, rules, and the regulatory environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with clients and colleagues.
- Ability to monitor and provide guidance on accounting matters and best practices to junior team members.
- Comfortable with technology and adaptable to various bespoke systems.
- Excellent organisational skills.
- Ability to motivate and influence direct reports.
- Energetic 'can do' attitude.
