Accounts Assistant

This part-time role, requiring 16 to 20 hours per week, focuses on providing essential support to the Finance team by assisting with core financial processes. The Accounts Assistant will report directly to the Finance Director and will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial information. Key responsibilities include administering payroll, managing accounts payable and receivable, performing bank reconciliations, and maintaining financial records. The successful candidate will also assist with month-end processes and contribute to effective financial controls within the department. This position demands strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. The Accounts Assistant will be essential in linking clients, suppliers, and financial objectives while ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.

Job Duties:

  • Ensure daily bank reconciliations are completed in Xero for the relevant entities.
  • Prepare regular cash flow and cash position reports for the Finance Director.
  • Administer payroll using the Ocerli system for staff, including maintaining payroll records and preparing monthly payroll reports.
  • Process and input all vendor invoices into Xero and make payments to vendors.
  • Issue debtor statements and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts workpapers and maintain the fixed/intangible asset register.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly GST returns and complete statutory submissions as required.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of direct debits and assist with ad-hoc reporting and analysis.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working in a bookkeeping or similar finance role.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g. AAT or equivalent) is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of Xero is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Offshore Payroll is beneficial.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, with strong skills in Excel and Word.
  • Highly organised with the ability to effectively manage and prioritise workload.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative when required.
