Our client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Manager, Data to join their team in Guernsey or Jersey on a permanent, full-time basis. In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and execution of the enterprise data strategy, working closely with the Chief Information Officer. Your primary focus will be to establish data as a strategic asset within the organisation, driving data-led decision-making and enhancing operational effectiveness while ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory requirements. JOB DUTIES:
- Define, maintain, and deliver a data strategy and roadmap aligned with business priorities and corporate objectives.
- Identify opportunities to leverage data, analytics, and automation to enhance customer outcomes and drive business performance.
- Lead the development of enterprise data capabilities that meet current and future organisational needs.
- Champion data-driven decision-making and promote a culture of accountability across the business.
- Establish and maintain an enterprise-wide data governance framework, including policies, standards, ownership, and accountability.
- Lead the Data Governance Committee, promoting effective data stewardship throughout the organisation.
- Drive improvements in data quality, controls, and master data management to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Oversee data warehouse, ETL, reporting, and visualisation capabilities, ensuring security, resilience, and scalability.
- Develop management information, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities while promoting self-service reporting with appropriate governance.
- Ensure regulatory data is managed accurately and reported in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
- Support audit, risk, and compliance reviews related to data governance and management.
- Provide assurance regarding data controls to senior leadership, committees, and regulators, maintaining adherence to data protection legislation and industry standards.
- Provide strategic leadership for the Data function, building effective relationships with executive and senior stakeholders.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team while fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
- Manage relationships with key third-party suppliers and partners supporting data services.
- Support the Chief Information Officer in shaping and executing the Technology, Digital, and Data strategy.
- Contribute to digital transformation, automation, and AI initiatives, driving data transformation programmes to support broader technology objectives.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience in a senior data leadership role within a complex and regulated environment, preferably within financial services.
- Extensive experience in delivering data strategy, governance, analytics, and enterprise data management initiatives.
- Strong understanding of modern technology environments, including cloud platforms and service management.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic planning with operational delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and communication skills.
- Experience in leading high-performing teams and working with C-suite stakeholders.
- Proven track record in managing third-party technology suppliers and partners effectively.
- A history of driving improvements in data quality, governance, and regulatory reporting.
Desirable:
- DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP).
- Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
- TOGAF Foundation or equivalent architecture certification.
- COBIT Foundation qualification.
- Risk Management or Operational Risk qualifications.
- PRINCE2, AgilePM or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience in financial services, banking, or building society sectors.
