Our client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Senior Manager - Data to lead the development and delivery of their enterprise data strategy. This permanent, full-time role is based in Guernsey or Jersey and reports directly to the Chief Information Officer. You will be responsible for establishing data as a strategic asset across the organisation, driving data-led decision-making, enhancing operational effectiveness, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position provides a unique opportunity to influence strategic business outcomes while supporting various digital and data transformation initiatives. As the senior leader accountable for enterprise data management, you will oversee data governance, architecture, quality, analytics, regulatory reporting, data warehousing, and business intelligence capabilities. Collaborating closely with executive, business, and technology stakeholders, you will foster a data-driven culture and ensure that the organisation maximises the value of its data assets.
JOB DUTIES:
- Define, maintain, and deliver a data strategy and roadmap aligned with business priorities and corporate objectives.
- Identify opportunities to leverage data, analytics, and automation to enhance customer outcomes and business performance.
- Lead the development of enterprise data capabilities that support current and future organisational needs.
- Champion data-driven decision-making throughout the business.
- Establish and maintain an enterprise-wide data governance framework, including policies, standards, ownership, and accountability.
- Lead the Data Governance Committee and embed effective data stewardship across the business.
- Drive improvements in data quality, controls, and master data management, ensuring data is accurate, complete, timely, and fit for purpose.
- Oversee data warehouse, ETL, reporting, and visualisation capabilities, ensuring that data platforms remain secure, resilient, and scalable.
- Develop management information, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities while promoting self-service reporting with appropriate governance.
- Ensure regulatory data is accurately managed and reported in compliance with regulatory requirements, supporting audit, risk, and compliance reviews.
- Provide assurance to senior leadership, committees, and regulators regarding data controls, maintaining compliance with applicable data protection legislation and industry standards.
- Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Data function, building effective relationships with executive and senior stakeholders.
- Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing team within a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Manage key third-party suppliers and partners supporting data services.
- Support the CIO in shaping and delivering the Technology, Digital, and Data strategy, contributing to digital transformation, automation, and AI initiatives, while driving data transformation programmes.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Proven experience in a senior Data leadership role within a complex and regulated environment, ideally within financial services.
- Extensive experience delivering data strategy, governance, analytics, and enterprise data management initiatives.
- Strong understanding of modern technology environments, including cloud platforms and service management.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic planning with operational delivery.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, influencing, and communication skills.
- Experience leading high-performing teams and working with C-suite stakeholders.
- Experience managing third-party technology suppliers and partners effectively.
- A track record of driving improvements in data quality, governance, and regulatory reporting.
- DAMA Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), TOGAF Foundation or equivalent architecture certification, COBIT Foundation qualification, Risk Management or Operational Risk qualifications, and PRINCE2, AgilePM or equivalent project management certification would be advantageous.
- Experience within the financial services, banking, or building society sector is preferred.
