Our client is seeking a Team Manager for their Shared Client Services Accounting team. This permanent, full-time position requires an experienced accounting professional who will oversee the day-to-day delivery of client accounting services for a diverse portfolio of clients. You will ensure accurate, consistent, and timely outputs across both Guernsey and India support teams while applying your knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and UK Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to review financial statements and facilitate audit processes. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Manager of Client Accounting, being involved in service delivery, resource planning, quality oversight, and initiatives aimed at team development. You will not only manage client expectations but also provide technical leadership and foster a collaborative team environment, contributing to the evolution of the client's functions.
JOB DUTIES:
- Manage the day-to-day delivery for a portfolio of client accounting engagements, ensuring quality, consistency, and timely completion across support teams.
- Support the Senior Manager of Client Accounting in planning team priorities, reviewing workloads, and aligning resources to meet client and business objectives.
- Monitor service delivery performance, manage capacity, and proactively address delivery risks and resource challenges.
- Review financial statements and supporting workpapers under UK GAAP, IFRS, and relevant regulatory frameworks, identifying issues early and escalating technical matters as needed.
- Support audit planning and liaison activities, including the coordination of deliverables and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.
- Serve as a key contact for client-facing administration teams and client advisors regarding accounting topics to manage expectations and resolve day-to-day issues.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and support to Accountants and Associate Accountants, promoting a culture of quality, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Ensure adherence to standard processes, controls, and documentation, identifying improvement opportunities through standardization and better use of tools and technology.
- Assist with onboarding, knowledge-sharing, and training initiatives to enhance team capability and consistency.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA, or equivalent).
- Working knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP, with experience in reviewing financial statements and constructively challenging accounting conclusions.
- Experience in a client-facing accounting environment within financial services, trust and company services, fund services, or professional services.
- Experience supporting audits and effectively collaborating with external auditors and internal stakeholders.
- Strong planning, prioritization, and quality-control skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a regulated environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-location operating model, ensuring clear handoffs and defined accountability.
- Prior experience leading, coaching, mentoring, and developing team members would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with Channel Islands structures and related statutory/reporting requirements would be beneficial.
- Experience improving processes through standardization, automation, or the adoption of accounting workflow tools.
