Our client is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to join their Digital and Technology team in Guernsey. This full-time position plays a pivotal role in bridging business stakeholders, product owners, and engineering teams to deliver core banking platforms and associated services. The position offers the opportunity to contribute significantly to core banking transformation initiatives, new product launches, and regulatory changes, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and compliant. The role focuses on eliciting and analysing business requirements while supporting a significant modernisation and re-platforming programme. You will help shape user experiences and design innovative solutions, empowering you to influence both the technological landscape and collaborative practices within the organisation.
JOB DUTIES:
- Elicit, analyse, and document business requirements related to core banking domains.
- Translate regulatory, operational, and product requirements into clear functional specifications.
- Act as a subject matter expert on banking processes, product behaviour, and lifecycle events.
- Convert business requirements into detailed technical requirements, including API contracts, data models, and integration flows.
- Work closely with solution architects to validate architectural decisions and ensure alignment with the core banking architecture.
- Support the design of integrations between core banking systems, payment engines, digital channels, and data platforms.
- Collaborate with Product Owners to refine epics, features, and user stories.
- Write clear, testable user stories with acceptance criteria that reflect both business and technical needs.
- Support sprint ceremonies such as backlog refinement, sprint planning, and demos.
- Clarify requirements for development teams during implementation and testing phases.
- Support data migration and quality activities, including legacy-to-target data mapping and validation rules.
- Define functional and integration test scenarios.
- Support system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and operational readiness testing.
- Act as a key interface between business users, IT and engineering teams, and external vendors.
- Challenge vendor solutions constructively to ensure fit-for-purpose outcomes.
- Ensure concise and accurate documentation of system behaviour, integrations, and business rules.
- Conduct walkthroughs and knowledge transfer sessions with Technical Operations and Application Support teams.
- Support effective handover to business-as-usual operations, ensuring support teams understand processing flows and dependencies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Finance, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience in financial services technology.
- Business Analysis Certification such as IIBA Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Certification in Business Analysis (CCBA).
- Agile Certifications such as Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) would be an advantage.
- Ten to fifteen years' experience as a Business Analyst or Technical Business Analyst in the financial services sector.
- Strong hands-on experience with core banking platforms, including Temenos, Mambu, or equivalent.
- Solid understanding of banking products and accounting principles.
- Experience supporting regulatory change and compliance initiatives.
- Strong understanding of API-driven architectures, microservices, and event-based integration.
- Ability to read and interpret API specifications, sequence diagrams, and data schemas.
- Familiarity with cloud-based architectures such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in using AI-enabled productivity tools to improve efficiency and support decision-making.
- Experience in Agile / Scrum environments and large-scale transformation programmes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to challenge assumptions collaboratively.
- Comfortable in complex, regulated environments, balancing detail with big-picture thinking.
