Our client is seeking an IP Network Technician to join their IP & Internet Services team on a full-time basis, working 37.5 hours per week in Guernsey or Jersey. The successful candidate will support the engineering, development, and maintenance of IP and MPLS networks, corporate LANs, broadband RADIUS and BNG platforms, and DDoS protection systems. This is a hands-on role suited to someone looking to build technical expertise and develop operational knowledge of enterprise-level networking systems.
Job Duties:
- Operate, maintain, and manage IP and MPLS networks
- Operate, maintain, and manage corporate LAN infrastructure
- Operate, maintain, and manage broadband BNGs and RADIUS platforms
- Operate, maintain, and manage DDoS protection systems
- Operate, maintain, and manage network monitoring platforms
- Configure and maintain IP, SIP, and MPLS product offerings
- Assist with the planning, testing, and implementation of network enhancements and new technologies
- Implement and evaluate IP and MPLS solutions and technologies
- Liaise with Product Management, Service Management, and other internal teams as required
- Participate in the standby and call-out rota once fully trained
- Work off-Island as required
- Supervise consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors working on relevant systems
- Attain and maintain at least one relevant associate-level network qualification (e.g. Juniper JNCIA or Cisco CCNA)
Job Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of network fundamentals including IP addressing and subnetting
- Willingness to develop operational knowledge of Cisco and Juniper routing and switching technologies
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities
- High motivation with a methodical and well-organised approach to work
- Competent with computer-based systems and willingness to learn new tools
- Effective communication skills with both internal teams and external customers
- Demonstrated interest in learning new technologies and adapting to a dynamic environment
- Understanding of IP networks, routers, switches, and system security highly desirable
- Appreciation of the telecommunications and IT market desirable
- A current valid driving licence required
- Satisfactory Basic Police Disclosure required due to the security-sensitive nature of the role
- Willingness to work unsociable hours when required, including as part of a callout rota
