IT Application Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced IT Applications Engineer to join the B2B Applications Support department on a full-time, permanent basis. This role can be based in Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man. Reporting to the Application Support Manager, you will be responsible for supporting and operating managed IT services, with a particular focus on Mimecast. This includes implementation, monitoring, support, management, and escalation of related services while ensuring customer satisfaction and service excellence.

Job Duties:

  • Install, maintain and retire services across both the Managed IT and Mimecast portfolio
  • Provide technical support for customer issues related to Mimecast and Managed IT services
  • Lead and participate in technical implementation projects
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Mimecast and Managed IT services
  • Mentor Security Operations Centre staff on related technologies and issues
  • Provide timely updates and maintain strong communication with customers
  • Lead Mimecast and Managed IT-related projects, including documentation and reporting
  • Assist with developing and improving internal processes and procedures
  • Follow established operational processes and procedures
  • Participate in the out-of-hours, on-call rota when required
  • Document and deliver services and projects effectively
  • Maintain records of customer meetings and handovers
  • Identify and report risk areas and seek training when needed
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, data protection, and information security requirements
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures and contribute to a secure working environment

Job Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11 (incl. WVD/VDI), Intune/SCCM, Office 365, EMS, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Experience with email security gateway tools and Mimecast products/services
  • Mimecast Warrior and Gladiator qualifications, or equivalent, are desirable
  • Experience with Microsoft security features including Azure ATP, DLP, AIP, Defender ATP
  • Knowledge of Entra ID and Entra ID PIM
  • Familiarity with Group Policy, Exchange, Windows Server OS, and Windows desktops
  • Strong networking knowledge including DNS, DHCP, IP Subnetting
  • Hands-on experience with wired and wireless networking
  • Relevant certifications such as MS-900, AZ-900, MS-700, AZ-104, AZ-500, MS102, MD102 are advantageous
  • Significant experience in a similar IT support role
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve technical issues independently
  • Experience with Citrix technologies such as ADC, Virtual Apps & Desktops, and Citrix Cloud is desirable
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with high attention to detail
  • Proven experience managing customer relationships and handling complex situations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Professional, proactive, and solutions-oriented approach
