Data Assurance Senior Associate

This role involves joining a team dedicated to providing independent assessments of financial statements, internal controls, and other assurable information, with an emphasis on enhancing credibility and reliability for various stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of data analytics and information risk management assurance services while supporting external financial statement audit engagements across multiple industries. The position will be based in Guernsey, with contract hours set at 37.5 per week. Responsibilities include participating as a Lead Senior within the Data Assurance team, overseeing planning procedures, developing data analytical procedures, and employing technology tools to enhance audits. The candidate should have a background in consulting and auditing, with a focus on data transformation and visualisation. Excellent interpersonal skills are vital for fostering relationships with clients and within the team. Opportunities for involvement in strategic initiatives and direct client interaction are prominent.

Job Duties:

  • Participate in the Data Assurance team as a Lead Senior, supporting external financial statement audit teams.
  • Complete planning procedures and client walkthroughs to understand IT environments and associated systems.
  • Design and develop data analytical procedures for effective audit testing.
  • Document the use of data analytical procedures to meet audit standards.
  • Utilise digital assets and tools for testing purposes.
  • Apply data analysis techniques to assess IT General Controls, application controls, and related dependencies.
  • Manage projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant delivery of Data Assurance engagements.
  • Promote technology adoption within the Risk Assurance team, including AI tools.
  • Support the training and upskilling of team members in advanced tools.
  • Build and maintain internal and external client relationships.

Job Requirements:

  • Strong academic background such as a Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Information Technology, or Business Studies.
  • Formal accounting qualification or part qualification with ambition towards Data Science or Data Engineering.
  • Experience in internal or external audit and assurance as a Data Assurance specialist.
  • Proven project management skills with the ability to motivate teams and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities with strong report writing capability.
  • Ability to work autonomously and build professional relationships.
  • Familiarity with financial services and knowledge of data transformation tools (e.g. Alteryx, SQL, Python, PowerBI).
  • Understanding of IT infrastructure and data analytical techniques.
